She started taking private lessons in 1999, along with her first competition.  By the end of the year she was participating in the annual Nutcracker on Ice held at Sugar Land Ice and Sports Center.  This year she received her ten year participation award. In January of 2000, she joined the Sugar Icings Synchronized Skating Team. By March of that year the team traveled to Holland, MI to compete for the first time, where they placed third.
The year 2000 was a big year for Taylor because she started kindergarten, and Girl Scouts. At the age of fifteen she still volunteers with the girl scouts at horse camp on the weekends. She also started swimming in the neighborhood swim team that summer, for which she swam for eight years. She has taken dance and gymnastics on and off since the age of three. She took ballet classes at Ballet Forte when she was eleven and twelve.
She has also been able to maintain her P.E. exemption since she was in sixth grade, where she must skate fifteen to twenty hours a week. This has allowed her to be competitive and travel for competitions. Taylor has traveled to multiple areas of Texas, Colorado and Pennsylvania. She has been doing ice dance for over four years and plans to test her Gold dances before she graduates high school. After that she would like to test her International dances. She also plans to test her Senior freeskate and moves in the field before she graduates high school. Taylor has been helping coach Learn to Skate classes for two years.
Recently, Taylor has passed her Novice moves in the field and her Silver dances. She has also joined the synchronized skating team UNITY. Taylor has started to help coach the Basic Skills team. She is excited to be a part of UNITY because it gives her the opportunity to skate on a team. She’s excited because this gives her the chance to continue skating through college.
